Marriage Column Starts Today

Published January 19, 1979. Keeping a marriage going ought to involve as much effort and dedication as getting married in the first place.

That is the rationale behind a new column, "Meaningful Marriage," which begins today on page C-2 in the Deseret News.  It's purpose is to provide professional insight into the dynamics of a marriage relationship.

The column is written by Dr. Brent Barlow, associate professor of child development and family relations at Brigham Young University.  Dr. Barlow is also a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Counselors and a member of the National Council on Family Relations.

A native of Utah, Dr. Barlow received his PhD from Florida State University in the inter-divisional program in marriage and family relations. He received teaching awards at both Southern Illinois University and the University of Wisconsin-Stout, while on their faculties.

Dr, Barlow is married to the former Susan Day, and they have five children.
